GYLA GHANA STARTER STORY: November Entrepreneur of the Month

My name is Olivia Aseitu Kipo from GYLA Ghana chapter. I'm a passionate agri-preneur with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University for Development Studies. Growing up in a rural community, I used to enjoy working on the farm, especially with other children.
How has your involvement in the Start-Up Academy and GYLA been beneficial to your development?
I attended the Start-Up Academy in 2020 and through knowledge obtained from the program in the area of business management, business model canvas, proposal writing and pitching, I have been able to successfully manage my business and scale it with less stress.
What would you suggest should be done to make them (Academy and GYLA) even better?
The days for the academy should be increased with more industrial tours to expose young entrepreneurs to the real business world.
What business did you start?
Vegetable farming

How did you come up with your business idea?
I grew up in a rural community in the Upper West Region where access to vegetables has been a challenge due to the prolonged dry season, which led to a high rate of malnutrition in the community. When I had the chance to attend Senior High School, I realized vegetables are a good source of nutrients and can be afforded by rural folk if it is accessible. My quest to reduce malnutrition whiles creating employment for the people of my community led me to found Kobaa-OK Enterprise
