𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗯𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗝𝘂𝗺𝗽𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘀

For 25 young Kenyans aspiring to be entrepreneurs, the BearingPoint Entrepreneurship Jumpstart Academy wasn’t just another online academy; it was a transformational experience.

Implemented virtually from March to June 2025, this intensive program brought together Aiducation International Kenya alumni, international mentors from BearingPoint, and a local mentor to explore the world of entrepreneurship. Every week, participants engaged in hands-on training on:
✔ Entrepreneurship fundamentals
✔ Value proposition & business models
✔ Financial management
✔ Pitching & storytelling

But the real magic? The mentorship, teamwork, and real-world application that turned theory into action.

Lyn Christabel, an Aiducation alumnus and one of the participants, shared her inspiring experience:

“At first, I approached the BearingPoint Entrepreneurship Jumpstart Academy with the same hesitation I had toward most online programs. Like many, I had experienced the cycle of starting an online course with enthusiasm, only to lose interest after a few sessions. The thought of adding a three-hour weekly session to my already packed Tuesday schedule, which included a full day of classes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., seemed overwhelming. I remember thinking, "Am I really going to commit to this?"

But something unexpected happened. Instead of draining me further, the academy became the highlight of my week. The structure was clear and well-organised, making it easy to integrate into my routine. Since I commuted to school, I would stay behind and attend the sessions from a friend’s hostel room. Every Tuesday evening, I told her, "I want to be intentional about this." And that mindset made all the difference.

The real magic unfolded in our breakout sessions. Our group, which we proudly named "The Visionary Crew," consisted of five individuals from different backgrounds and perspectives. Under the guidance of our coach, Corentin, we learned the power of collaboration. We debated ideas, challenged each other’s thinking, and gradually built a business concept that would later earn us first runner-up in the final pitch competition.

One of the most valuable lessons I took away was the importance of a growth mindset. "I don’t know how to do this" was never an excuse; instead, it became an opportunity to learn. Our coach patiently guided us, helping us refine our ideas and sharpen our skills. By the end of the program, I had not only gained confidence in entrepreneurship but also mastered tools like Mural and PowerPoint, which I had previously struggled with.

What stood out most, however, was the energy in our sessions. People often remarked on how much our group was smiling during meetings. The truth was, we genuinely enjoyed the process. Our mantra became: "I’m not sure how to phrase it, but maybe we can make it better together." That spirit of teamwork and mutual support made the experience unforgettable.

The curriculum itself was another highlight. Each module—from ideation and persona-building to financial management and pitching—was designed to be practical and actionable. The pre-work and post-work assignments reinforced our learning, ensuring that we not only absorbed information but also applied it. Presenting our final business idea was one of the most rewarding moments, as it represented the collective effort of six dedicated minds.

Looking back, the academy didn’t just teach me about entrepreneurship; it transformed my perspective. Tuesdays went from being the most exhausting day of my week to the one I looked forward to the most. This experience wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible people who made it happen: my teammates—Debra, Adrian, Hassan, and Brandon who trusted me to lead; our coach, Corentin, for his patience and expertise; my best friend, who gave me a quiet space to attend sessions; BearingPoint, for providing exceptional mentors; and Aiducation International, for creating opportunities like this through powerful partnerships.

This wasn’t just a program, it was a life-changing chapter that proved the power of collaboration, perseverance, and the right guidance.“ 

The BearingPoint Entrepreneurship Jumpstart Academy proved to be far more than just a training program; it was a transformative experience that equipped young Kenyan entrepreneurs with practical skills, confidence, and valuable networks. Through the partnership between BearingPoint and Aiducation International, participants gained not only business knowledge but also a growth mindset that will serve them throughout their entrepreneurial journeys. The program's impact extended beyond the participants themselves, as mentors reported gaining fresh perspectives on Kenya's vibrant startup ecosystem.
