From March 24th to 28th, 2025, 30 bright young minds, 15 students from the Swiss Study Foundation and 15 Aiducation International Kenya alumni, came together for an unforgettable Summer School Academy in Kenya. The theme? โBrewing a Sustainable Future in the Global Coffee Chain.โ

For one week, these students explored the global coffee industry, from farm to cup, while exchanging ideas, cultures, and solutions. The program wasnโt just about learning, it was about collaboration, leadership, and real-world impact.
Why This Summer School Mattered
Coffee is more than just a drink, it is a global industry that connects farmers, traders, and consumers across continents. Kenya and Switzerland play key roles in this chain, but they face different challenges and opportunities.
Through field visits, workshops, and discussions, the students:
โ Explored Kenyaโs coffee farms and processing methods.
โ Learned about sustainability, fair trade, and technology in agriculture.
โ Developed problem-solving and presentation skills.
โ Built lasting friendships across cultures.
Voices from the Participants
The students themselves best captured the real impact of the academy:
Mischa (Switzerland)
"My key takeaway was the cultural exchange. Even with our differences, weโre all human. I recommend this to anyone who wants to enrich their life by connecting with people theyโd never meet otherwise."

Olivia (Switzerland)
"Beyond learning about coffee, I experienced Kenyaโs warm, vibrant culture. I learned to pause, celebrate life, and just smile and dance, a mindset Iโll carry home."

Fredrick (Kenya)
"Engaging with brilliant minds from different backgrounds expanded my perspective. I now see how tech can revolutionize coffee farming. This program is for anyone passionate about sustainability."

Teresia (Kenya)
"The field visits opened my eyes to the challenges in coffee farming. This academy deepened my understanding of sustainability and global connections."

A Week That Changed Perspectives
This Summer School wasnโt just about coffee, it was about breaking barriers, fostering leadership, and inspiring change. The students left with:
- New knowledge on global agriculture.
- Stronger communication and teamwork skills.
- A broader worldview and lifelong connections.
A huge thank you to the Swiss Study Foundation, program coordinators and all stakeholders for making this possible, and to every participant for their curiosity and energy!
