My name is Emmanuel Njenga. I come from Thika, Kenya. I am a beneficiary of the Aiducation scholarship program.
After successfully completing my Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations and scoring 445 marks, I was called to one of the leading national schools in the country – Alliance High School. This had always been my dream since when I was young, and I was ecstatic to say the least. However, a big issue came up and threatened to rob me of my dream and that was lack of fees.
At the time, my father had been diagnosed with a chronic illness which left my mother as the sole breadwinner of the family. The returns from her small business were not enough to sustain my expenses. However, she pulled enough resources to get me admitted to the school as she searched for alternatives to sustain my learning.
It was in my first term of high school that the Aiducation group visited my school and I got to submit my application for the scholarship. Soon enough, the good news that I had been accepted came and everyone in my family was happy due to this relief.
The scholarship played a huge role in giving me a supportive learning environment. It saved me the psychological burden of being sent home due to fees arrears and the academic disadvantage that comes with missing classes. As a result of the scholarship, I became more confident not just in class but also in other avenues within the school such as student leadership and club participation. In the end, I managed to score an A in the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) national examinations.
Moving forward, it is my desire to pursue a career in technology, most preferably Computer Science. I believe that the future of our country and our continent lies in technology, and I wish to become among the pioneers who are going to inspire this development in Africa and beyond. Words cannot explain how appreciative I am to my donor for this opportunity. I would not be the same person I am today if it were not for this scholarship and for that, I am eternally indebted. Indeed, this has also driven me to pursue greatness with a lot of vigour so that someday in the near future I may be able to repay this act of kindness to others like me who may be in dire need of help.
