More than 250 alumni and partners gathered in Nairobi to mark two decades of Aiducation in Kenya and to launch the Aiducation Kenya Alumni Network.

Twenty years ago, Aiducation International Kenya began with a single conviction: talent is distributed evenly across this country, but opportunity is not.
Two decades on, more than 2,500 Aiducation alumni are building careers across Kenya in the private sector, public service and civil society. Every one of them began as a bright student who could not raise school fees.
A day to celebrate the journey
On Saturday, 5 September 2026, more than 250 alumni and key stakeholders gathered at Ufungamano House in Nairobi to mark this milestone. Alumni took the stage to describe the road from a Merit Scholarship to the work they do today. Our Group Managing Director, Matthias Meier, then set out the direction for Aiducation's next chapter.

A formal home for our alumni
Then came the moment we had been building towards: the launch of the formally registered Aiducation Kenya Alumni Network. Built by alumni, for alumni, the network has its own Board of Directors, governance framework and membership model.

For the first time in twenty years, our alumni community has a formal home of its own. Its mandate is to fund scholarships, deliver alumni projects and keep this community connected.
Thank you, Harriet
The day also marked a moment of transition. After five years leading Aiducation International Kenya as Country Director, Harriet Were is moving on to her next adventure, and we said our farewells. She leaves with our deep gratitude and our very best wishes.

With gratitude
We thank our founders, whose idea this was. We thank our alumni, who are the impact. We thank our partners, funders, Ambassadors and partner schools, who backed the model early, and our parent representatives and teachers. And we thank the Aiducation Kenya team, our Board and every volunteer who made the day possible.

Twenty years of impact. Twenty years of partnership. A future full of possibility.
